Journal of Rural Education Policy and Practice

The Journal of Rural Education Policy and Practice is a peer-reviewed journal published in hard copy only. We publish original research relevant to issues related to rural education policies and practices that impact student achievement. The journal publishes scholarly articles, research studies, literature reviews, book reviews, and commentaries on issues that specifically impact rural schools, colleges, public and private universities in countries around the world. Manuscripts may address issues such as local and state policies that disproportionately impact rural communities through testing and graduation requirements, school safety policies, and classroom discipline-related concerns that influence rural students’ ability to learn. We are particularly interested in innovative ways rural educators address economic issues related to funding, access to colleges, graduation rate, and accountability matters. Other topics such as access to technology, cultural diversity, language, and social barriers in rural communities will be considered. Research on special education, effective leadership strategies, and creative programs that have resulted in a decrease in both student absenteeism and dropout rate are also welcomed.
